What is “Green Hour”?

Green Hour is an activity organized by Green Talk project, which belongs to UNESCO-CEP; founded and initiated by the Management Board of Green Talk and the Project Manager – Mrs. Đinh Thị Vũ Trinh

Green Hour is the “Act for environment” hour held on every Sunday morning.

Since the first Green Hour on Jan 6^th, 2012, there have been 18 Green Hours executed in HCMC and a wide-range one organized at once in 10 cities throughout Vietnam under the name “National Green Hour 2013”.

The program is held annually, which starts with the first Sunday of the year and ends with the first Sunday of May.

Green Hour 2014 is for gathering garbage and exchanging plastic bags in order to enhance others’ behavior. By specific deeds, we create a familiar lifestyle and a meaningful reminder for the community whenever they see the Green Talk uniforms. Each participant will become a visually educating factor that affects the community’s environment awareness.

I. How it works:

5 departments of UNESCO-CEP will elect or the volunteers themselves run for the post of the leaders for each weekly Green Hour. Each leader shall set forth operation strategies for his/her own event with the help from UNESCO-CEP. He/she will define routes for the event and besides, anyone concerning about the environment and having brilliant ideas can also join us as a Green Hour Leader!

Green Hour will be held every Sunday at 8AM, with its main activities including gathering garbage, categorizing them and propagandizing plastic bags’ harmful effects, etc. in different locations in HCMC and also nationwide.

II. The weekly Green Hour (*):

The deadline of this enrolment is at 12h00 on every Wednesday.

On Wednesday: The list of the registered volunteer will be posted on the link:  http://gioxanh.unesco-secc.org/category/tinh-nguyen-vien/danh-sach-tong-hop/ (This is not the official list. It is just used to announce that the Human resource department has got your enrolment)

In order to be the official volunteer of this program, you will receive a message via email which announce and instruct you how to confirm that “you are sure about taking part in our program” through a status on Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/TinhnguyenvienUNESCO

The deadline of confirmation is at 16h on every Friday. Only the volunteer who has confirmed can joined the program and will be admitted to develop with the Human resource department.

On Sunday: Concentrate to generalize and carry out the program

1. Run the Green Hour every week to compete penetration of the project Green Talk 2014:

–        The period : all of  Sunday from 05/01/2014 to 04/05/2014.

The large-scale plan: 20 provinces (TP. HCM, Bình Dương, Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Bình, Bình Định, Tuyên Quang, Huế, Phú Yên, Khánh Hòa, Lâm Đồng, Đăk Lăk, Đồng Nai, Vũng Tàu, Long An, Cần Thơ, Nghệ An, Ninh Thuận, Kiên Giang).

–        The schedule quantity: 60 Green Hours ( 30 Green Hours at Ho Chi Minh city and 30 Green Hours at 20 provinces from 03.2014)

07h30 – 08h00	Check in, give the name card for the volunteer, take the team photograph, give the work instruments and the self biodegradable bags and instruct how to change these bags.
08h30 – 10h00	Compete with 3 actions: Gather the garbage, propagandize (the walking team) and classify the plastic bags. Ride bicycles to change the plastic bags into the biodegradable bags at local residents.
10h30 – 11h00	Summarize all of the bags which are delivered on that day, and the number of books as well as gathered bags, after that, move into the recycling places. Hold a short meeting for the next Green Hour. Check out, and return the name card.

III. Considerable plan of Green Talk Project

To become an official volunteer for program, volunteers who registered will be received email and instructed to “confirm for participating this program definitely” through by Fan page:  http://www.facebook.com/TinhnguyenvienUNESCO , deadline on 16h Friday in working week. Only volunteers who were confirmed can participate officially.

Game among 5 bands of project including: Planting trees. Riding bike to exchange nylon bay to be taken Eco bag. Delivering and sticking stickers at supermarkets and schools. Inciting to switch off motorbike when waiting for traffic jam Gathering garbage on streets. -11h30: Come back and awarding.

3. Notes

To raise fun for our project, we can do all in product like media, clip, albums,…from idea to writing script, make a fully video for programs to serve for schools, families, companies…with the activity of website:

Besides the 2 registration forms mentioned above, there is another form reserved for nationwide volunteers who want to become collaborators, volunteers or interns of the project and of the Management Board afterwards here.
