EARTH DAY VIETNAM- 20 APRIL 2014
Earth Day is a special day which all citizens on over the world take action to protect and raise awareness of the natural environment. This year, Green Talk project along with the special concomitance of the Bridgestone Tire Sales Vietnam Limited Liability Company, Phu My Hung Development company and communicational support from HTV3 channel will hold an eventful program; in there, the highlighted activity is Flashmob with the target call about 50,000 fingerprints to commit “A non-littering day – A day for Vietnam”.
This is the first Earth Day program (bilingual) which is commissioned to do in Vietnam by Earth Day Network, takes place from 8:00am to 8:00pm at the Crescent – Phu My Hung, District 7.
It’s so stunned to see a litter, close our eyes and ignore when we know that our food contains cancer toxins…and we really forget that: Just a small act, but change into our habits, mean that we saved ourselves and our relations, and those are small acts, but it has a great signification. With the Earth Day on April 20th 2014, Green Talk expects to create a connection among volunteers as well as set the basis to build a truly Vietnam Earth Day for the next campaign.

Topic of the Earth Day program of Green Talk 2014 is “A day for Vietnam” with special highlight is the flashmob performance with the target of collecting about 50,000 fingerprints to commit a day without littering. Three Vietnamese songs with copyright are used for this program, that is “12 Gio”, “Khoang troi cua be” and “Viet Nam oi”. Beside the program, the Photo Marathon for Earth Day Contest in 6 hours, Green Hour (gather litter, exchange eco bags…), Green Stand (exhibition, sell products which are friendly with the environment and give presents – soft drink, milk…) are taken place. Moreover, the impressive music show at night with the Deaf Community Organization of Hochiminh City (as called as DCOH) is also taken place. A t this time, DCOH also sells and auction their special products.
Officially combining with Global Earth Day Network, we wish to create an Earth Day for Vietnamese people to give hands together to protect the environment and maintain this event as an annual one. Along with Mr Truong Nam Thanh – one of the factors to create success of the Earth Hour on March 23rd 2013 – Flashmob call to turn the lights off in Earth Hour (Please see again: Flashmob calls about 50,000 fingerprints to commit for turning off the lights 2013). In this year event, Truong Nam Thanh once again plays a role as a person who spreads a message to call everyone to join hands for our environment.
Furthermore, “Photo Marathon for Earth day” Contest is also taken place during this day with the purpose to memorize moments, voluntary hallmarks and send a profound message of volunteers to ecological environment.
VJ Quang Bao, who led successfully the Responding the Earth Hour program on March 23rd and continues will come back with the role as a MC for Earth Day event.
Along with the leading of VJ Quang Bao and MC Hoang Yen (Hoang My’s elder sister) will create great effects to anyone whom participates in this program.
Miss Hoang Yen plays a role as a MC speaking English for Earth Day Program on April 20th.
Many other celebrities will also participate in this program suddenly with the role as the volunteers and give many exciting performances such as cooking vegetarian food, exchanging eco bags, taking part in singing contest…
I. Guidelines:
1. Application Process:
a) The event is open to volunteers who are of interest to environmental concern (including flashmob interests).
b) Registration:
Registration to get the volunteer certificate of Unesco-CEP, but you can join in without the registration if you don’t have the need of this certificate.
There are 2 options, but notice that you should fill in one of them in order to make sure your participation.

Green Hour activity includes:
Before event: Make recycled things, from 10/04, send leaflets to invite 50,000 fingerprints, to call upon everyone to come to Crescent Mall to join in environment festival and contribute together to 50,000 fingerprint record-the commitment “one day for the green of Viet Nam on 20/04.
During event: Ride propaganda bicycle, gather garbage, change nylon bags, play games and Green Store.

c) Dress rehearsal at 08h00 on 19/04
All of the volunteers joining on 20/04 must attend Crescent Mall, Phu My Hung at 08h30 on 19/04 to dress rehearsal. Apart from riding bicycle team, advertising leaflet to call upon everyone to print fingerprints and changing nylon team will start the first time on that day.
d). Participation process:

With that list, all of teams will be arranged specifically as well as the ribbon you must bring to suitable for your team: design team (violet), Pr team (yellow), Human resource team (blue), event planning (pink), marketing (green). During that event is the interesting contest among these teams to find the best team that deserve to win the award from organization department.
2. Preparation:
Volunteers will be working alongside with the producers in preparation for Earth Day 2014 from Mar 30, 2014. Workload in specific shall be announced later.
a) Flashmob volunteers:
– Practice Schedule: 17h30 -19h30 on Mon, Wed and Fri at Tao Dan Park (parking lot is at the corner of Truong Dinh and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai)

b) Green Hour volunteers:
– 3 used plastic bags at minimum (width 30-40cm)
– Plain white shirt
– Used newspaper, bottles, etc. to exchange for biodegradable bags.
3. Volunteers’ Benefits:
– Participants will receive certificates of participation from UNESCO-CEP; Green Hour volunteers will be qualified for team certificates; Flashmob volunteers will receive individual recognition of contribution certificates.
